Think of this vehicle as a mechanized horse and buggy. The rare Cygnet rear car attachement could carry two passengers, converting the motorcycle into a commercial vehicle, or a conveyance for the family. Three wheel vehicles were econimical and benefited from a lower taxation than four wheelers. The new for 1915 three speed transmission would greatly improve performance, particularly in this configuration.

NASCAR Ultimate Speedway Set

NASCAR Ultimate Speedway Set

The NASCAR Deluxe Speedway Track Set features a head-to-head battle between the Jeff Gordon Number 24 car and the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Number 88 car. With a pit-stop recharger that refuels the cars and over 16 feet of flexible track, this speedway set is sure to provide lots of fun for kids ages five and up.

What We Think

Fun Factor:

(what this means)

The Good: NASCAR replicas offer fast paced entertainment

The Bad: Setting up the flexible track is a bit tricky

In a Nutshell: The NASCAR Deluxe Speedway Track Set provides a fun head-to-head racing experience
At a Glance

Ages: 5 and up
Requires: 2 or 4 D cell batteries

Getting Ready for the Races
Before the race cars can get rolling, you'll need to assemble the track. The instructions recommend shaping each piece by rolling it and pushing the walls so they stand straight up, and it's worth taking the time to do this because it helps keep cars on track as you start racing.
Snapping the pieces together to make the 180 degree curves is pretty simple. The tricky part of setup is getting the flexible straightaways to connect evenly, but you'll want to be patient and do it well, since having a smooth surface to compete on makes races a lot more fun.
The pit stop recharger is a fun, unique way to keep cars charged. You can put either two or four D cell batteries in it. Using four batteries lets each race car run longer on a single charge. To get your car ready, simply insert the recharger's nozzle into the intake pipe on your car and press down on the top of the charger.
Start Your Engines!
Once the track is set and the cars are charged, all it takes is the flick of switch to start the action. Each car has a convenient on-off switch on the bottom, just behind the rear wheels. Just like real NASCAR racers, once these cars are moving, they don't want to stop. This means that if a bump sends them off the track they're likely to end up flying across your floor or spinning their wheels in the carpet. Since assembling the track smoothly was a bit tricky, we often had to chase down a few renegade cars. However, we also discovered that these durable little cars are incredibly fun to play with on their own without the track.
The Real NASCAR Speedway Experience
The detail on these race cars is sure to impress serious NASCAR enthusiasts, down to the Goodyear logos on the tires. Young racers will pit the popular drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon against each other again and again in an ultimate championship series. Even the hum the cars make when running mimics a real race. But don't worry -- they're not too loud.
With quick little motors and durable bodies, these cars zoom around the track and easily survive crashes. The big track offers super sized fun, even though keeping the connections smooth occasionally gets tricky, and it's easy to keep the racers charged. Overall, these toy cars do a good job of bringing home the action packed competition that makes NASCAR the top spectator sport in the U. S.
What's in the Box
Two race cars, one pit box charger, six curved track pieces, six straight track pieces, and eight connector pieces.

Hot Wheels are die-cast model vehicles manufactured by Mattel and were introduced on September 7, 1968. Originally the cars and trucks were manufactured to approximately 1:64 scale and designed to be used on associated Hot Wheels track sets, but by 1970 a series of 1:43 scale "Gran Toros" were introduced and more recently a range of highly detailed adult collector vehicles, including replicas of Formula One and NASCAR cars, have found success. However the brand remains most famous for the small scale free-rolling models of custom hot rods and muscle cars it has produced since the range first appeared. Today, there are roughly 10,000 different models of Hot Wheel Cars.

Hot Wheel Vehicles are authorized by the car makers of General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler Motors and other car makers like Ferrari, Mazda, and Toyota have licenses with Hot Wheels to make a scale model of their cars.

To make current model car of a Hot Wheel, Mattel works with the car maker to look at design blueprints of the car. Example of this is the Chrysler 300 Hot Wheel car. First the Hot Wheel Team and Mattel went to Chrysler to look at the design of 300 and an actual car. Chrysler and Mattel legal departments license the blueprints to the Hot Wheel Team. Chrysler protects the blueprint and Mattel had to return the blueprint after the Hot Wheel team looked at them.

At Mattel's Hot Wheel design center, the blueprint becomes scaled down to a 1/64 scale car. Then a mock up of the car is done and studied. After this process, the mock up becomes a die cast mock up. After these processes, the car is then manufactured.

For older scale models: Example a 1968 Chevy Nova the model maker uses blueprints from General Motors and also studies car brochures of that model year.

The head of the Hot Wheels division is Larry Wood. He has been with Mattel/Hot Wheels team since 1967. He originally was from General Motors.

The Hot Wheels product line has also included various tracks, accessories, and other kinds of vehicles such as "Sizzlers" rechargeable electric cars, "Hot Line" trains, "R-R-Rumblers" motorcycles, "Hot Birds" airplanes and the comical half-human/half-machine "Farbs". (wikipedia)

1956-64 Messerschmitt (FMR) KR200 micro-car convertible

The KR (Kabinenroller, or "scooter with cabin") series of micro-cars was introduced by German aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt in 1953 at a time when the company was prohibited from producing airplanes. The model shown here is a KR200, the second model in the series, which was produced between 1955 and 1964. Messerschmitt lost interest in the car in 1956 when the company was again allowed to manufacture airplanes, and production of the car was then taken over by Fahrzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH, Regensburg (FMR), until the production run ended in 1964. This car has an FMR nameplate, so that it must have been produced after 1956.
